Service Summit – November 10, 2011

October 1, 2011 in News

Family Promise of Bryan-College Station

Invites You to Attend the

Service Summit, November 10, 2011 at the Brazos Center

Dear Friend,

I hope you will register to attend our Service Summit.  This event will bring together concerned citizens, non-profit leaders and workers, clergy, city and university
officials, as well as students to discuss some of the key social issues in our
community.

The goals of Service
Summit are:

  • raise awareness of growing social problems in the Brazos Valley
  • highlight current service opportunities and
  • create a context where dynamic and effective networking can continue to grow.

The causes of poverty
are complex and many well-meaning individuals remain disconnected from the
alarming rise of poverty in our area.  Family Promise is hosting
Service Summit so that community leaders and participants can have clear
information and work together to make a difference. Some of the topics covered
that will be addressed include: crime & prevention, decent and affordable
housing, the top problems faced by  families in counseling, university
students in service, problems related to food scarcity, and school and church
partnerships.

We are also pleased that author Gabe Lyons will be our keynote speaker.  His experiences and knowledge will offer an encouraging word how others across America are collaborating together to solve similar problems.

Toward a better future,

Jason Fikes, Minister A&M Church of Christ

Board Member Family Promise B/CS
